The OG Millennial
Who is the OGM?
As you’ve probably seen on our social media platforms and on this here website...an OGM (OG Millennial), is an individual that is constantly oscillating between being the embodiment of a millennial while having the mind of an OG. An individual that’s said to be young with an old soul. An individual that’s said to be old, yet full of youthful exuberance. An OGM is someone that has the ability to blend in regardless of environment. Room full of old heads or young’ns no problem, the OGM feels right at home and is comfortable because they can identify with both groups. Age is in fact nothing but a number to the OGM because how old you are doesn’t govern your ability to be the best version of yourself and have a positive impact on the world around you.
What do they stand for/represent?
The OGM stands for integrity and respect. The OGM is a stand up person that can always be counted on to be their authentic self (whatever that may be). They tend not to conform to whatever the norm is. They’d rather stay in their own lane and do their own thing. They have figured out the age old secret that “no one can do you better than you.” They live their truth; good, bad, or indifferent. The OGM likes what they like, and doesn’t want for the approval of the masses to decide what they’re into. You can always count on the OGM to be their true selves. They make a conscious effort to move with integrity and respect regardless of the circumstances that they may encounter.
What are their values?
Integrity. Respect. Authenticity. Innovation. Adaptability. All of these values are cornerstones in the ability to maintain and to live your truth, while navigating the rigors of everyday life. A life in which things are ever changing with new information available every day.
How are they relevant today? How are they relevant to you?
The OGM is relevant today because they’re the voice of reason. They seem to have a pulse on what’s going on in the culture and everyday life. They’re the pillar of understanding in a world that seems to be consumed with being right and wrong. If you want an objective perspective on what’s going on in the world today, look to the OGM because they aren’t swayed by popular opinions. They are instead grounded by their values and morals.
What are they against?
Just like an OGM stands for Respect, Integrity, and Authenticity; they’re against anyone, any thing, and any organization that doesn’t hold true to these same values. Yes, we are all humans and inevitably will fall short of being the best versions of ourselves every day. However the goal is always growth.
What type of lifestyle do they live?
They live a lifestyle that focuses on progress not perfection. Fun Fact...no one is perfect. Fun Fact...no one is right all the time. Fun Fact...not everyone gets it right the first time. Fun Fact...you will fail in your pursuit of progression. Trusting the process (as much of a cliche that is) is one of the many qualities prevalent in the lifestyle of an OGM. With all this growth and striving going on, there is a definitely a healthy dose of “fun’ involved in the lifestyle of an OGM. Fun just like most things pertaining to an OGM is whatever you deem fun to be. It could be partying, sleeping, reading, painting, museum visits, amongst other things. As long as it’s fun and doesn’t bring harm to other individuals, fun is whatever you want it to be and the OGM indulges in a lot of it. They are always balancing the right amount of fun with an ample amount of focus and dedication. The OGM strives to exist in that sweet spot between the extremes in almost every area of life. There’s a fluidity in their lifestyle which lends itself to their ability to oscillate between having the mind of an OG and being the embodiment of a MILLENNIAL.
Who are some of the people that they identify with?
In the words of the late great Nipsey Hussle “The Highest Human Act Is To Inspire.” With that said Nipsey Hussle is definitely someone that the OGM identifies with. Others include Lil Duval, Barack Obama, LeBron James, Derrick Grace II, Hakeem Olajuwon, Kevin Hart, Andrew Schulz, and a myriad of other people. Each one of these people are identified with for different reasons. Some are inspirations. Others lay a blueprint in some way. Some have an incredible journey. Others just have something profound to say and share. Whatever the reason may be, there are parts (not all parts) of these people that resonate with an OGM in some way.
I hope this answers all the questions you may have. If you have more, I encourage you to ask them. The comments are open. How else are we supposed to grow if we aren’t inquisitive?
